Quick Start Guide
Virtual GM Lite is an AI-powered text adventure game for solo science-fiction roleplaying.
The Virtual GM describes the world, portrays its characters, and responds to your decisions. You read what happens and choose what your character does next.
Requirements
To use Virtual GM Lite, you need:
- an eligible OPS membership;
- a free or paid ChatGPT account;
- and a supported web browser.
Your ChatGPT account provides the AI used to run the adventure. A paid ChatGPT subscription is not required.
No API key, prompt writing, or AI configuration is needed.
Getting Started
- Log in to your CyborgPrime account.
- Open the Premium Dashboard.
- Select Virtual GM Lite.
- Sign in to your free or paid ChatGPT account when required.
- Open or continue the Virtual GM Lite adventure.
Playing the Game
Read the current scene, then enter what your character says or does.
You can type actions in ordinary language.
Examples:
Examine the damaged control panel.
Ask the guard who ordered the lockdown.
Move quietly toward the cargo bay.
Search the office for information about the missing crew.
Draw my weapon and take cover.
“What happened here?”
The Virtual GM describes the result and continues the adventure.
Making Effective Choices
Enter one meaningful action at a time.
Specific actions usually produce clearer results than vague ones.
Instead of:
Search.
Use:
Search the desk and computer terminal for information about the missing crew.
You may attempt any reasonable action. You are not limited to a list of commands.
Dice and Game Rules
When the game asks for a roll, use the indicated dice or rules procedure and enter the result.
The Virtual GM uses that result to continue the scene.
Keep your character sheet available when the adventure uses character statistics, equipment, injuries, or other game information.
Player Control
You control your character’s:
- actions;
- dialogue;
- decisions;
- and priorities.
The Virtual GM controls:
- the environment;
- non-player characters;
- opposition;
- discoveries;
- and the consequences of your choices.
Your decisions move the adventure forward.
Correcting a Mistake
The Virtual GM may occasionally misunderstand an action or confuse an established detail.
Correct it briefly and continue playing.
Example:
Captain Varo stayed aboard the ship. Chief Engineer Pell is the missing crew member.
Then enter your next action.
Saving and Continuing
Virtual GM Lite runs through your ChatGPT account. Available conversation history and continuation features may depend on your ChatGPT account and settings.
Keep the Virtual GM Lite conversation in your ChatGPT history so you can return to it later.
To continue:
- Sign in to the same ChatGPT account.
- Open the Virtual GM Lite conversation.
- Continue from the last scene.
Do not delete the conversation when you intend to continue the adventure.
Quick Reference
- Log in to CyborgPrime.
- Open the Premium Dashboard.
- Launch Virtual GM Lite.
- Sign in to ChatGPT.
- Read the scene.
- Enter what your character does.
- Resolve any requested dice roll.
- Continue making choices.
- Keep the conversation for future play.
