Squadron Strike Show & Tell
11 AM Eastern Time, 9 AM Mountain time
You've seen Squadron Strike: Traveller since 2018, but you can't carve out 4 hours to play a teaching game of it learning all the things. Ken Burnside will do a show-and-tell of 3 4,000 dTon destroyers: The PF Sloan, the Aslan Elsyel, and the Zhodani Zhdiak to show how they differ in combat capabilities. He'll wrap up by showing up with some of the bigger ships and give an overview of how Squadron Strike plays. If you'd like to fly a PF Sloan, you can sign up for the Squadron Strike Teaching Game.
Squadron Strike Teaching Game
1 PM Eastern Time, 11 AM Mountain Time
The year is 1105. The place? The Grizmoff system. The Zhodani have come across the border in numbers, and a pair of Zhdiak destroyers have caught a trio of Imperial PF Sloan destroyers too close to the gas giant to jump. Seizing an opportunity, the Zhodani are, on paper, outmatched. However, these PF Sloans are commanded by some of the scions of Imperial nobility, who got their commands through patronage and political favors, and largely spent their cruises showing off uniforms and are suddenly re-learning how to fight in 3D on the fly.
Players will be flying the PF Sloans, the GM is flying the Zhdiaks. All rules will be taught, you'll need a set of head phones, a computer with a mouse and keyboard and a modern web browser made after 2014 or so. An HD monitor is recommended; there's a lot of screen real estate.
Space Combat With Adventurer Class Ships: A Seminar
6 PM Eastern Time, 4 PM Mountain Time
Ken Burnside, the designer at Ad Astra Games, will do a show-and-tell of Squadron Strike adaptations of the Type S Scout Courier and the Beowulf Free Trader, and will discuss the particular challenges of making tactical space combat work in the context of an RPG. This will be a Q&A session where he shows two different ways to handle it and solicits questions and suggestions from the other participants.
